Paul Vaes was born in Holland and at the age of 16 he left to the USA, Seattle to get his education at the Benjamin Franklin Highschool. He studied singing and drama and was educated by Dr Robert Cathey. He played in severall musicals like ‘Kiss Me, Kate’. He recorded an LP with the all State Choir.

Back in Holland he worked as a male-nurse for a couple years but at the same time worked on his developement to become a professional musicalsinger.

In 1991 he got his first job with Joop van den Ende Theatre Productions in the musical ‘Cyrano de Bergerac’. After that he was hired in Belgium in ‘Man of la Mancha’, ‘Chess’, ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’.

Back in Holland Joop van den Ende wanted him to play Freddy Eynsford Hill in ‘My Fair Lady’. From here on he went straight into ‘Miss Saigon’ were he became understudy and later on alternate Chris, which he played 225 times.

In the meantime he was also seen in several commercials on television.

In the year 2000 you could see him in two musicals at the same time. ‘Chicago’ as Amos Hart and as Franz-Joseph in ‘Elizabeth’ both produced by Joop van den Ende  Theatre Productions. At this time he was also hired in the Sitcom ‘Onderweg naar Morgen’ and played for severall months the role of layer Andre Paaymans.

Paul also is engaged in producing theatreshows of his own. He produced the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical ‘Aspect of Love’ and played the leadrole of Alex.

So backstage he was also working as productionmanager for two dutch musicals. ‘Alleen op de Wereld’ and ‘Dolf Brouwers, ben ik dat?’. The play ‘Dinner for one’ saw the light under his managment.

He also played the role of Lord Capulet in Shakespears ‘Romeo and Juliet’ which was originally a french musical. He played this part in Belgium and in the Dutch tour. He was nominated for the Johnny Kraaykamp Musical Award Best Actor in a supporting role. The director of  ‘Romeo and Juliet’ asked him to play this role also in the Austrian version. He was in Vienna for one and a half year to play this part.

Back in Holland in 2006 he played the role of Professor Tulp in ‘Rembrandt the Musical’ and understudying the leadrole.

In 2007 he went to Italy, Bolzano to play Sir Danvers Carew in ‘Jekyll and Hyde’ . And when he came back to Amsterdam he was asked to play Stone in ‘Shit Happens’

In December 2007 he started with ‘Camille the musical’. He played the world famous sculpturist August Rodin.

Next to this all he gives musical workshops to the younger generations of musicalartist.

In march of 2008 he will start the rehearsels of ‘Pierre Cuypers the musical’. About an dutch architect who build the Central Station and also the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. This show will only been seen exclusivly  in Roermond the birthplace of Pierre Cuypers.
